It is with great sadness that we report the death of Kenneth Hindle.
Kenneth was raised in Gt. Harwood. He was known to many as he worked for years in a variety of the local corner Co-op shops. Kenneth was a Local Preacher in our Methodist circuit for many years. In 1956, he started an ecumenical Youth Club in our building. He ran this for many years and could be found most evenings in his office (now the flower room). Past members will well remember “the bar “in the upper room serving its speciality of hot Vimto!! Kenneth always incorporated a 15 minute “Epilogue” in the middle of the Thursday evening club nights – a time of thoughtful reflection. There was also a gathering after Sunday evening worship – a time for discussion on all sorts of subjects.
Kenneth left Gt. Harwood in 1964 to take up a full-time career as a Youth Worker in Burnham-on-sea, establishing a Youth Club there. On his retirement, Kenneth immediately set about starting a U3A (University of the 3rd Age) in Burnham. He was very involved in this until he sadly died on 20th March.
Kenneth never forgot his roots or the members of his YC here. We have had many reunions over the years – early ones attracting 60-70 past members. Many long- lasting friendships (and relationships) were formed. Kenneth last visited in July 2024 when our last reunion was held.
His funeral will take place in Burnham on 24th April. Pam & Paul Russo

A thought for today Palm Sunday
This year the calendars of the churches are aligned so that we are celebrating Holy Week and Easter together: Orthodox, Catholic, Anglican, and Reformed. May we all know the joy of the gospel together!
Like the crowds so long ago we will praise God joyfully, saying
Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
If these disciples were silent the stones would shout aloud.
Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Lord Jesus, on this day the people went out with palms to meet you, and we meet you now with our prayers and our praise. Blessed are you, for you come to us in God’s name! Blessed are you, for you inspire the deepest joy within us! Blessed are you, for the whole company of angels and all creation sings your praise! With the children who praised you on Palm Sunday, with all who cried Hosanna. The Revd Dr Susan Durber
